Delivering Physical Intervention
The Security Industry Authority regulates the private security industry in the UK. In order to be hired by one of these firms in a security-providing capacity, you must complete a programme of study approved by the SIA before you can obtain your SIA licence to work for one of these firms. Others in many fields may also benefit from training for delivering physical intervention including teachers, care providers, librarians, bar and sports centre personnel and the healthcare workers. Anywhere emotions run high may require some sort of physical intervention on the part of an employee on occasion.
GSS Limited is a recognised trainer approved by the SIA for delivering physical intervention training. Instructors are thoroughly qualified and experienced to deliver the highest quality of training you can find. The company is very professional on every level and teaches techniques that work effectively to restrain, redirect or calm unruly or emotional customers. All types of scenarios are explored to give students as thorough a grounding as possible to handle all types of situations. Courses offered by GSS are approved by such bodies as City & Guilds, Skills for Security, MAYBO, National Open College Network and the Career Transition Partnership.
There is an increasing demand for trained security personnel and GSS takes its duties extremely seriously. They are very aware that the training they provide may have serious consequences to an individual’s physical well-being, so they are very committed to providing the highest calibre techniques of physical intervention. Their method are tested and proven – they work as intended and can defuse most common confrontations effectively.
They take extreme pride in delivering the best training programmes available to ensure that the security industry is supplied with the highest quality personnel. Their methods frequently go beyond traditional requirements, so you can have confidence in your ability to handle the most unusual situations that may present. Their feedback has been outstanding from organisations that employ their services or hire those they have trained.
They are recognized throughout the UK as Master Trainers. Accreditation as Master trainers was established to ensure the security industry, door supervisors and trainers receive the best physical intervention training available. This kind of preparation is extremely important when needed to deliver safe physical intervention in the workplace.
These skills are particularly necessary in any environment where hostile or aggressive behaviour is likely to occur. Practitioners must develop the skills to recognise threats and deliver appropriate resolution, which may only require verbal intervention. If physical action is required, students that are taught include disengagement and escorting techniques, or physical restraint if required. The techniques are safe from a medical point-of-view and are non-aggressive and meant to cause little or no pain.
You will also learn how to apply for your SIA licence or renewal. The website contains many useful FAQ’s about the courses and requirements, tuition and other important particulars. The training is excellent for those involved with the supervision of young adults, teenagers and children. Teachers, classroom assistants and youth workers in schools, universities, special education programmes and many other venues can benefit with the skills this training provides.
There have been additional physical intervention training and licensing requirements for Door Supervisors. Company tutors and trainers will need to know the latest physical techniques to disengage hostile individuals or escort them from the premises. Information for organisations who wish to train tutors and trainers for their programmes can also find answers to many questions on the site. They can learn about certification requirements, insurance details, who qualifies for the training programme and other important details. Direct questions can also be submitted on the site for answers to your most important questions.
