Functional Skills English
Developing your understanding of the English language with Functional Skills English is one of the easiest ways that you can learn to deal with the English language in your every day life. By choosing GSS as your training provider, you will be sure to get a comprehensive package that has been time-tested and will allow you to work at your own pace.
The Functional Skills English program comes in three different units, each of which gives you a core component of using the English language in your day-to-day life. Unit one, which is called “Speaking, Listening & Communication” is designed to get you talking to, and understanding English speakers in as little time as possible. This is important because speaking is one of the first things that most people want to learn to do with their new language proficiency. Your functional mastery of spoken English will help to motivate you to move further in your studies and master the next two units.
The second unit, which is called “Reading”, is designed to help you understand the English language when it is written down, a useful skill for people who plan on visiting English speaking websites or for people who want to enjoy some of the many English language sites on the web. Since reading is such an important part of daily life, you really would not have functional English skills if you did not learn to read.
What comes after reading? Writing, of course! In the final unit, which has been titled “Writing” you will take your speaking and reading skills and learn to create your own written documents in English. From writing a simple letter, to creating a quarterly report for your new English speaking boss, this final unit will give you what you need to get the job done quickly and easily.
Of course, learning is a process and it takes time to know if you are on the right track, or if you need to review for a bit longer before you move one. The Functional Skills English system helps you to know for sure when you are doing well (or when more study is required) with a series of Onscreen, on-demand assessments designed for both level one and level two learners. They will help you to spot your weak points in no time at all, from the convenience and flexibility of any computer you have access to.
Good luck with your studies!
