Functional Skills ICT
Every person needs some sort of functional skills to do well in their chosen professions and this is all the more important in the field of Information and Communications Technology or ICT. Such skills are necessary during the process of learning, while working and in order to gain some level of confidence. Such skills are on offer in colleges and schools where teaching is imparted and is augmented further by training at the workplace.
Functional skills ICT are at the heart of study for ICT and allow better understanding of the key processes and concepts that make up this technology. Functional skills are much more than technical competency and require people to evaluate and apply a range of skills that can enable problems and tasks to be tackled. This requires the selecting of the right skill before using it for the job on hand. Once such skills are learned and the student has the right foundation in Mathematics and English it helps to develop the person into an independent learner.
Functional skills ICT will help to understand all the aspects of these skills necessary for use in activities or to tackle the problems encountered. It must be understood that these skills are basically meant for learning and for use in a number of different contexts. Once students are aware of the functional skills necessary they will be able to select which of them is needed for a particular task. After the skills are learned they can be applied in contexts and situations that do not have to be confined to the classroom alone.
Functional skills ICT will help the user to independently use the ICT system that meets that particular need. They will assist in deciding and managing information storage and ways to bring the information together so that a particular purpose is served and content material obtained. Once this information is entered it has then to function independently to produce the results that are desired. It is possible to go in for on-line testing to decide on the levels of functional skills that a person has.
ICT functional skill standards allow a person to use ICT capability and a range of tools in such a way that questions can be answered, problems can be solved and ideas and solutions applicable to a wide range of contexts that a person may be confronted with in life, working or learning. They allow the use of information exchange that will allow the proper collaboration and communication and ensure that it is done responsibly, effectively and with the required degree of safety. They will allow the exploring of ideas and to manipulate the information to suit various needs.
