QCF In Providing Security Services
Qualifications and Credit Framework or QCF in providing security services is a qualification that aims to give its learners an in-depth knowledge of the security industry so that all its areas are properly understood. The core area of security guarding along with other aspects like door supervision and the nuances of CCTV operation are also included.
An award in providing security services is a legal requirement when you are looking for work as a security guard in Scotland, Wales or England. Such an award will help the person to demonstrate and develop the skills that are necessary to perform any security services and can lead to jobs as CCTV operators, patrolling guards, security guards and as door supervisors. Such courses given by training providers like GSS, can take one to two years to complete. It can mean guided learning for about 170 hours with the training provider. Learning is imparted in a classroom as well as in job environments, during which there is a continual assessment to make sure that the knowledge imparted has been gained by the learner.
Specialist skills are imparted on how to conduct searches on vehicles. You are also taught how to communicate effectively with people you are meant to protect or guard against. Knowledge of the legislation that is currently in force for such work and the legal limitations imposed are part of the curriculum. The use of CCTV is the latest technology in use for security and the nuance of monitoring areas using this science is taught during the course. The basic methods of providing security at venues or workplaces is also touched upon.
You can also acquire the necessary qualification to deliver all this training to staff of an organization so that all the personnel being used in guarding duties are properly knowledgeable. For this you will need sufficient qualified staff to train and assess the persons undergoing the training. It is of course necessary to have the facilities that are necessary for the trainees to properly understand all the requirements for security.
The Qualification and Credit Framework or QCF is the method that recognizes the achievements in security training through qualifications based on knowledge and credit for units of work. Such qualifications can be achieved in steps so that every credit that is accumulated is one more step to attaining full qualifications. It is a new government framework that regulates how all vocational education is obtained and covers many fields including security training. This enables all such vocational education to be properly structured, titled and allows quality to be assured on completion of the qualification.
Each qualification under QCF has a specific title which indicates the level or difficulty of the qualification. It decides the size of the qualification whether it be an award, a certificate or a diploma. This will depend on the number of credits which can be accumulated and transferred. There will be specific subject content and terminology that may indicate the purpose of the qualification like for security training or imparting security training.
Completing every unit which makes up a qualification allows the credit for that unit. Qualifications are given based on the number of credits that a student has accumulated through a training provider. The template used for each unit is based on what the learner has to understand and learn and the assessment made of that learning which has to come to the desired level. Every unit has also a level which indicates the depth of learning and autonomy and can vary from Entry level to Level 8. Each unit has number of credits and each credit can correspond to about 10 hours of learning during which the student has to pick up all the knowledge in that unit of training.
